The Industria linocut series looks beneath the surface of the monumental architecture of Dolní Vítkovice. Instead of overall views, it focuses on architectural details, such as the rhythm of rivets and the geometry of industrial constructions. The industrial theme and industrial heritage carry within them a fascinating clash between hard mass and relentless time. Factory sites no longer serve their original purpose, but become autonomous aesthetic objects. The traditional technique of linocut, through its physical character, ideally mirrors the very essence of the subject and symbolically, through the pressure of the gouge into the linoleum, refers to the strength and prosperity that once shaped Vítkovice steel. The graphic prints revive the raw splendour of the former ironworks and capture the industrial memory of Ostrava transformed into artistic detail.
