About the Author

Marie Bajnarova works professionally at the intersection of education, visual creation, and artistic practice with a social dimension. She graduated from the Secondary School of Art in Ostrava (field of scientific drawing and illustration) and earned her bachelor's degree (BcA.) in Classical Graphic Art in the studio of academic artist Eduard Ovčáček at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Ostrava. She completed her master's studies in Art Education first at the Faculty of Education, University of Ostrava (specializing in teaching at elementary art schools), and later at Masaryk University in Brno (secondary school teaching, field of visual arts). She obtained her doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Art Education at the same university.

During her artistic career, she worked in the painting studio of the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava and in the restoration and conservation studio in Šenov near Nový Jičín, which operates under the Žerotín Chateau of the Nový Jičín Museum. Her publishing activities have long focused on visual culture, artistic activities as tools for social support and understanding, and on digital media in education.

She has served as an assistant professor at the University of Ostrava and the Silesian University in Opava, where she specialized in subject didactics, pedagogical and social practice, art therapy, educational care for seniors, and issues of social pathology.

Currently, she works in the field of educational policy and Czech regional education.

She continues to explore her personal artistic expression through her independent, non-commercial studio, Onyx et Ivory.
